With all the kiddos heading back to school, Gel Press® thought we should take you back to the basics! Please visit each blog for an idea or technique that you may or may not have seen before! Happy Hopping!
What do you do with your finished prints? Frame them? Collage with them, or make something with them??? I decided to use a printed paper to make dimensional flowers!
Printed Gel Press® papers
Large Flower Petal Punch (Marvy used)
Heavy white Glue
1. Find the paper(s) you want to use and punch at least 5 flowers from it. The more punches, the more dimensional the flower. The pink flower (above) has 7 or 8 punches, while the one below is 5 punches.
Optional: Before punching print back or color back with another medium. Adds realism. The color on back should be lighter than the front.
2. Take each flower and gently crumple into a ball. Then open up the flowers. This will allow you to shape the flowers as you put them together to look dimensional.
3. Take your best printed flower of your choice, and sort of shape it in your hands like a cup. Add glue and insert next flower. Close flower a little, add next flower. Keep adding and arranging flowers so they look like cascading petals. You can stagger each flower so the petals do not line up exactly.
When the glue has dried you can re-crunch the flower to look any way you want!
Create a lot of flowers to use for art projects!!!
4. For this art piece, I ran printed paper through die cutter with an embossing folder. Highlighted areas with ink. Added collage image and wording, as well as dimensional flower after adhering to red cardstock. All was mounted on green cardstock.
