Genuinely Jane shines with Viva Las Vegastamps!

Viva Las Vegastamps and Genuinely Jane are doing a blog hop!!

Comment to WIN lb. of rubber for Viva Las Vegastamps, or $20.00 Gift Coupon from Genuinely Jane Studios!!!

Genuinely Jane carries WOOD board books in many shapes and sizes.  Several pages hooked together by a jump ring.  I love all of the designs so while I have finished just 1 page of my examples,  each book comes with several pages!

A little bit of Steampunk going on with a walk to shop, art, and having a libation!!!

190508 - Ink, Drink, and Be Merry

Sakura of America - Florescent Gelly Roll Pen
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Deocorative paper was adhered with the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.  The edge was sanded with fine sand paper, along with the wood side.  This insures a smooth surface for adding paint.

Florescent Gelly Roll pens were colored in a circular motion, then I "swiped" my finger over the surface to spread out the color and mute it a bit.    Do this randomly over the area to highlight and add color.  A stain dauber was used to age and edge the art.

Dots of pigment ink added using the end of a pen cap!

Florescent Gelly Roll pen in blue used full strength and swiped on the lady.

Ink, Drink, and be Merry stamped.

I fell in love with this fence!  So many possibilities.  At first I thought, flowers and spring...but then I received the new Halloween Plate from VLVS, and I knew what I wanted to do!!!

VLVS Supplies:
19209 - Kids with Giant Jack-o-Lantern
19212 - Frightful Fun and Folly (cut off the "and Folly")
18899- Oct 31
5914 - Moon Circle

Miracle Tape
Kromecote Cardstock

VLVS Partners:
Sakura of America - Gelly Roll Florescent, White Glaze Pen, and Stardust Pens
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Other Supplies:
Acrylic Paint - some USArtquest Perfect Pigment Mica Paint
Copics
19 Gauge Wire
Paint Brushes
Japanese Screw Punch

Kromecote is not only to bring out vibrant colors with dye based inks, but takes acrylic and Gelly Roll Pens flawlessly!!!

The fence was painted red-brown, but then black on top.  Then Gold Perfect Pigment is sponged on top.  This is night time, so I want to reflect (ha ha) the moon bouncing off of objects.

I used the Stardust pen on the girl's dress, the moon, and pumpkin.  The Flourescent Gelly Roll was used between the fence, and the pumpkin.  The white Glaze Pen was used on the children in various areas as a different light illuminating.

The grass is a mix of ink and paint to portray realism.  Copics were used for the boy's outfit, and the chlidren's faces/hands.

Here is a Interstate Highway Board Book that is grunged up like a long road trip makes you feel, and bugs on your windshield accumulate!

VLVS Supplies:
19193 - Large Bullseye - open
19196 - Small Bullseye - solid
19179- The Road Not Taken
19178- You Are Here

UmWow Studio
Sakura of America - Black Gelly Roll Pen
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Other Supplies:
Distressed Ink and Stains
Die Cut Sticker
Washi Tape

Perfect shape for scrapping travel photos!  My son is out in Memphis right now and that is the skyline.  It was a really hot and messy 6 hour drive there to move him for this temporary stint.

A real map was used.  First the top of the sign was painted.  Then I traced around the map and cut the sides out but ripped the top for a more natural look.

Edged with stain, splattered with paint.

You can stamp with Distressed Paint but make sure you wash your stamp right away, so no paint dries in the crevices.  I use unmounted stamps just as they are so I just drop them in water and clean when I am done stamping.

Accents with Gelly Roll pens, die cut sticker, and chipboard piece from UmWow Studio.

Playful Musings!!

Frog Dog Studios has a regular feature by all the DT members.  Mine is "Playful Musings."

Playful Musings is creating in a free-form manner, losing most the rules, and opening up to the child within!!  I give you premission to play, get messy, and just express your love of art materials.  As children we don't have many rules or responsibilites as adults so this series is aimed at rediscovering that child.

Along with the series, I will have one or two posts of art with a tutorial showing use of all the products in the monthly kit.  The kit is geared towards any level artist or even non-artist who want supplies and ideas all together in one package!  Brilliant, I say!!  No one can say they aren't an artist, we all are.

Go to Frog Dog Studio's webpage and click on the "blog tab."  You will be taken to the blog where you can see how I achieved the finished design.

Learn how to take scraps of paper to create patterns, color and design in your art!!

See more on Frog Dog Studio's blog with tutorial!!  Check the website, right now they have some great offers on mini kits and special free shipping offers as well as Kit Membership specials.

Sakura of America - Craypas Rubbing

Sakura of America Cray-Pas Expressionist Oil Pastels with Viva Las Vegastamps are the perfect combo!!

Place stamps onto acrylic block, wrap fabric, and do crayon rubbing.  Stamps can be added for more designs.

More Cray-Pas is added and then blended with mineral spirits and a brush.

Love the texture with the color!!!

Be sure to stop back on Friday - blog hop with Genuinely Jane Studios and Viva Las Vegastamps!  GJ is the home for wood books!  Some books have shapes cut in the middle and incredible shapes.  See both DT's eye candy from Friday through Sunday.

Next Week Starts Reveals!

Next week starts posts I have been working on this month!  Viva Las Vegastamps and Genuinely Jane blog hop, art technique DTS and Sakura of America Gelly Roll Pens, and Tile - Dichroic look with Sakura Hobby 3D Crystal Lacquer!

My first Playful Musing post for Frog Dog Studios for the end of the month.

Then it starts all over again with more art goodness!  I will be doing a whole month of art for Frog Dog Studios.

Oil Pastels can be used on fabric as well as paper!!!  Although I taught this at a retreat in 2001, this technique is still relevant.  Art work created and ironed onto fabric bag.  This is a technique showcased in Creative Art Concepts for Papercrafts, my book by C&T Publishing.

Sakura of America is one of the partners with Viva Las Vegastamps, and I look forward to creating as I always do with their fabulous products.

Viva Las Vegastamps is offering FREE SHIPPING with orders of the new stamps.  While they come in full plates, the single images are now available.  oola la pick your favorites.

Frog Dog Studio introduced their "Mini Kits."  They are just about all sold out.  The July Kit is filled with some great products put together to inspire!  Distressed Paints, Maya Road Box, Tim Holtz Decorative Hinges, and lots more!  Check it out.

SPLASH INKS - I am obsessed with!  Waterbased, 4 colors with a recipe card with color swatches to mix tons of various colors and shades!!  Easy to do with a dropper type bottle.

That's all for now!
